Ratings: Runway Finishes Strong, CBS Topples ABC

Project Runway wrapped its first season on Lifetime with season-best numbers. The Season 6 Runway finale was watched by 4.2 million viewers, topping the night amongst the cable competition. That number was roughly 500,000 people fewer than Season 5's finale on Bravo. Over on the networks, CBS finally loosened ABC's stranglehold on Thursday night, as it took the top spot in total viewers and in the adults 18-49 demographic. The return of Red John on The Mentalist (15.8 million viewers) was the night's most-watched show, building on solid numbers from CSI (15 million viewers) and Survivor: Samoa (12. 3 million viewers.) 'Grey's Anatomy' webisodes belly up to the bar

"Grey's Anatomy" may be taking a break from television for the rest of 2009, but if you need a fix -- like, really badly -- you can turn to the web. The show debuted a spinoff web series, "Seattle Grace: On Call," after Thursday's episode. The six-episode series is set mostly at Joe's and features a documentary crew filming a project about the lives of residents. Joe the bartender (Steven Bailey) is the only long-time "Grey's" face who'll be a regular in "On Call." The rest of the webisodes focus on the Seattle Grace interns (Mark Saul, Molly Kidder, Joseph Williamson, Gloria Garayua and Brandon Scott) and two of the new docs from Mercy West (Nora Zehetner and Robert Baker). As these characters have so far ranged from underdeveloped to barely present on "Grey's Anatomy," "On Call's" first episode didn't hold a ton of interest for me. (Though I like Joe a lot; more Joe would be good.) But if you can't live without "Grey's" in some form for the next few weeks, this could be a way to tide ...

TV Ratings: Network tops Thursday primetime in 18-49 demo -- CBS halted ABC's primetime winning ways in the 18-49 demo Thursdays, posting a narrow victory on a sluggish night for the Alphabet net. Though it was still the top-rated program for the night in 18-49, ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" hit an all-time low in audience for a first-run episode, according to preliminary nationals from Nielsen. Because of the effect of an NFL broadcast on the CW, the numbers were subject to revision.

Christina Aguilera 's life is about to get McSteamier. "Grey's Anatomy" star Eric Dane is hopping into the tub, so to speak, with Aguilera and Cher for the former's first big-screen lead role and the latter's first non-animated role in a decade. Dane will play a businessman out to buy Cher's title burlesque and, at the same time, win Aguilera's heart, according to The Hollywood Reporter . Singer Aguilera will play a small-town girl who heads to Los Angeles to make her fortune, finding it at a club run by Cher while vying against rival Kristen Bell . Filming began last week in Los Angeles for a Thanksgiving 2010 release. Dane, meanwhile, is also known for toying with two women thanks to a sex tape he made with wife Rebecca Gayheart and former Playboy model Kari Anne Peniche. TV Ratings: CBS' 'The Mentalist,' ABC's 'Grey's Anatomy' still top Thursday

Fast National ratings for Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009 Thursday's ratings was the same old, same old: CBS' "The Mentalist" raked in the overall numbers, but ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" go the demographic win. CBS drew 15.2 million viewers and an 9.5 rating/15 share in households for the night, well ahead of ABC's second-place finish with 11 million viewers and 7.2/11. FOX followed with 7.9 million and 4.8/8, while NBC (5.4 million, 3.3/5) and The CW (3.5 million, 2.2/3) trailed. ABC led among adults 18-49 with a 4.0 rating, just ahead of CBS' 3.8. FOX took third, 2.5, just edging out NBC's 2.4. The CW got a 1.7. CBS is airing the last "CSI" crossover episode tonight, taking us back to the original in Las Vegas. Which means it's time for the West Coast crossovers. Monday we went down South .
